The Paschal Triduum comes to an end with the Easter Vigil. Schola Cantorum Jubilate animated this solemn night at Ta’ Pinu National Shrine which started at 8.30pm. The liturgy started with the benediction of the fire, the lighting of the Paschal Candle and the proclamation of the Exultet which was sung by Stanley J. Portelli. Seven readings were read from the Old Testament and a psalm followed each reading. The Psalms were sung by seven choristers (Annalise Said, Anne Marie Bajada, Sephora Galea, Sylvana Cini, Silvianne Cini, Christian Mifsud and Joseph Bartolo). After a joyful ‘Gloria’ (Oltrasi), Marvic Cini sang the proclaiming Alleluia and the Psalm.

The other pieces interpreted by the choir include ‘Vidi Aquam’, ‘L-ikel tal-Ħajja’ (Holst) and ‘Io Sono Risorto’ (Liberto). At the end of the celebration, the choir, together with the celebrants entered the chapel of Our Lady and sang together the ‘Regina Coeli’ (Plain Chant). The choir was accompanied by Joseph Camilleri on the church organ.

The liturgy was streamed life on TVM2 for the benefit of the sick and elderly who could not attend for this Easter celebration.
